Meet the Crew

We don't bite.

Mike Ring
Mike Ring
Owner/Creative Director

Mike co-founded The Garden Creative after a long stint on the agency and network side, most recently Discovery Channel where he oversaw creative advertising for various Discovery brands and developed and managed an internal motion design and animation group. He has earned many industry awards, including multiple Promax/BDA Gold and Silver awards, 2 Webbys, Graphis International Design Awards, Print Magazine, Addy Awards, Telly Awards and so on. He earned his BS and MFA in Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. Mike is also an award winning writer/director, and can be spotted at film festivals around the country. When not on-set, or behind a desk, Mike is either tending to his bees, or getting lost in the woods with his wife and dogs.

Scott Rinebold
Scott Rinebold
Animation Director

Scott has been with The Garden Creative just over five years, and has worked his way up from intern to animation director. Scott is a graduate of Towson University, and continues his education through classes and seminars to stay on the leading edge both technically and conceptually. Since joining The Garden, Scott has garnered numerous industry awards while working with a diverse clientele. When Scott is not at work, he is either hanging out with his dachshund, Curious, collecting retro video games or buying tiny hats from the tiny hat store.

Jessica Ring
Jessica Ring
Co-Owner/Art Director

Jessica earned her BS and MFA in Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. In addition to her work with the Garden, she is an associate professor of graphic design in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education at Towson University, in Towson, Maryland. Before that, she worked for a private company and taught at American University. Her research interests include sustainable graphic design, design for social issues and graphic design education. Travel, hiking, camping, reading and knitting are some of her many hobbies…besides spending lots of time with her three dogs and husband!

April Jones
April Jones

Over the past 10 years April has worked for Discovery Channel, Science Channel, Planet Green, Travel Channel, TV One and now The Garden Creative. She loves that she gets paid to watch TV for a living, seriously how cool is that? When she’s not screening, writing and generally whipping us all into shape at work she is hanging our with her husband and three-nager having misadventures in motherhood.

Eric Gibson
Eric Gibson
Senior Editor

Eric aka Gibby continues his 20 year career in the TV industry at Garden Creative, which has included stops at Henninger, Nat Geo, TV One, Discovery Networks and RLTV. He has picked up a little hardware along the way, including a ProMax award, a couple of CableFax nods and MVP of his high school track team. Go Rams! Since the CMX 3600 is no longer available, his tools of choice include Avid, Premiere and Final Cut, but he longs to get back in front of a Chyron to keep his E-2 skills sharp. Eric is a big fan of his daughters, breakfast foods, and the Oxford Comma.

JR Soldano
JR Soldano
Executive Producer

JR is a director, writer and producer who brings over 20 years of advertising experience in both business-to-business and consumer channels. He creates and produces all levels of marketing content—from million dollar series launches to daily topical promotion and everything in between—and his background in print and design offers a unique and wide-ranging skillset. He has garnered a number of industry awards, including 6 Addys, a BDA Award, a Telly Award and 4 Promax awards, and has directed two award-winning shorts in the past 4 years. In addition, JR is one of the creators/writers/producers of cult favorite Pancake Mountain—an offbeat, internet-based kids' show—and also writes and performs as celebrity-interviewing puppet Rufus Leaking on the show. JR currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Maggie, and 2 children.

Philip Gleichauf
Brendan Medairy

Brendan can make any subject look amazing—we have tested him. Brendan has shot both still and video for some of the biggest names in the industry, including: Red Bull; Discovery Channel; Science Channel; National Geographic, and Marriott. Book a project, save a life.

If there’s one thing The Garden loves more than making you look good, it’s our love of animals. So we thought it was about time to combine those two loves into one great initiative.

Beginning this summer, The Garden Creative is joining forces with several reputable shelters and rescue organizations. A portion of every project you book with us will be donated in your name to the The Pet Project. That’s right. We’ll be replacing our “feed” blog with images and stories of the fuzzy little souls that your project is helping to support. The more jobs you book, the greater the donation to these amazing organizations that literally change the lives of scores of wonderful animals. Our mission is to save a life with every project booked.

You can choose to support a specific pet, if that’s your thing, or support the cause as a whole. Remain anonymous, or proudly shout your support on our site. It’s your call. And we promise not to send you a zillion emails or postcards.

Your project is important to us. What it helps to support is even more so.
